A test result describes an identified object under a defined method. A transport test summary, a datasheet and an SDS answer different questions.

Three documents with different purposes
| Document | Purpose | Matching information |
|---|---|---|
| Product specification | Electrical, mechanical and operating references. | Actual manufacturer/model, revision, field definitions and conditions. |
| UN 38.3 test summary | Summary of the transport-related type testing. | Identified cell/battery type, report reference and test results. |
| Safety Data Sheet (SDS) | Hazard and handling information. | Product identity and the applicable document revision. |

Transport evidence and operating evidence
UN 38.3 concerns transport-related cell and battery type tests. Its test summary does not establish application lifetime or performance under every operating duty. An SDS serves a different information purpose and does not replace the test summary.
For an enquiry, identify the supplied object, revision and intended destination or shipping arrangement. Available documents and any requirements for the particular shipment are checked for that project.

Keep reports attached to the tested object
A similar sales name or external appearance does not establish that the same report applies. Confirm the actual model and revision, and whether relevant changes affect the evidence. For an assembled pack, ask which evidence applies to the cell and which applies to the complete battery.
When reviewing an abuse-test result, retain the test method, starting condition, observation period and acceptance criteria. A photograph alone does not provide that record. We can coordinate corresponding documents; availability is confirmed for the proposed supply object.

Questions to prepare
- Which actual cell or battery type and revision will be supplied?
- Which specification, test summary and other documents are needed?
- What destination, shipment arrangement and customer evaluation scope apply?
Common questions
Does an SDS replace a UN 38.3 test summary?
They communicate different information. Request the document corresponding to the purpose and actual product.
Are documents for one cell sufficient for every pack?
Check the identity and scope of the evidence for the assembled battery.
